Yuletide Letter 2K19!

Hiiiiii! I'll try to jazz this letter up a bit if I have time - usually I add some additional prompts/information about what I love about the fandom, but for NOW, it's just the basics! Hopefully those are still helpful! You can also always mine my past letters for ideas, too, I've got lots of fandoms that I've requested in the past...

So, some general stuff:

THE FANDOMS
 

Fandom: Dark Matter - Michelle Paver
Characters: Gus Balfour, Jack Miller
Sign-up Prompt:

I DESPERATELY NEED SOME SEXUAL RESOLUTION AND/OR FIX-IT FIC FOR THIS FANDOM. Maybe telegraph-sexts? Maybe Gus never gets appendicitis? Maybe ALGIE does, and leaves Jack and Gus alone there in the cabin?? OR hey, I’m absolutely in favor of a ghost/human ending where Gus travels the seas until he finds Jack on one of those miserable anniversaries. MAYBE HE CONTACTS JACK FROM THE BEYOND VIA TELEGRAPHS. Or, keeping more canonically, I’d be very interested in some Gus POV on the book, how he falls for Jack.

I do adore the canon setting and all of its play on light and dark, but I’m also deeply up for an AU of any kind, honestly. A modern ghost AU that’s set up like Lockwood & Co.! Or OH MAN, SPACE and a haunted lunar/martian outpost, or a deep sea research station, or some kind of modern detective AU sans ghosts but WITH serial killers, or idk a modern university AU where Jack somehow accidentally adopts a dog even though (he thinks) he HATES dogs and has to keep asking his extremely fit biology/veterinary neighbor for help with the mutt and it has zero to do with any FEELINGS he’s just tired of the dog PEEING ON ALL HIS POSSESSIONS and EATING HIS WALLS when he’s in class. *waves hand* IDK something along those lines, don’t feel you have to use any of my ideas verbatim! GO WITH WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.

(Freaky ghost!sex definitely an option... should you be inclined...)

Fandom: Lockwood & Co. - Jonathan Stroud
Characters: The Skull, Holly Munro, Lucy Carlyle
Sign-up Prompt:

So I just love this series and these characters. Don’t feel you have to go shippy – I’d be very very interested in just a character piece exploring the Skull’s history, his POV on the events of the series. He’s one of my favorite characters of all time, and I’d love to get his perspective on Lucy especially. Or a story about Lucy post-books, reuniting with her family and sisters, maybe? Orrrrr alternately, a story focusing on Holly – her POV, family, experiences. I love Holly and I wish the series gave us more of her, and if you want to write a Holly-centric fic that ignores the other two characters, PLEASE DO.

Re: Holly/Lucy, I ship it to bits, and would love for Lucy to realize she’s not just into how beautiful Holly is out of jealousy, or for some Holly POV, frustrated that she’s got a crush on a straight girl in the midst of all this actual life-threatening drama (but with the happy ending that OH LUCY IS ACTUALLY NOT AS STRAIGHT AS ANTICIPATED).

SO. If you’re up for it, Lucy/Skull would be amazing – I realize this may be slightly tricky re: the Skull and ghost touch and all that, but I feel like it can be gotten around with some handwaving and/or exhibitionism/voyeurism (esp if you want to go a Lucy/Lockwood/Skull angle, because I’m totally down for that)! If this is your bag, I BELIEVE IN YOU GO FOR THE GHOST/GIRL CONNECTION.

But yeah, none of this shippiness appeals, seriously, DO NOT WORRY. I would love a case-fic post-series, with the gang maybe setting out to close more of Marissa's gates, or the Skull becoming a real member of the lockwood&co team and what that looks like for everyone, or an AU set IN SPACE SOMEHOW I DON’T EVEN KNOW. Ghosts appearing IN THE DEPTHS OF SPACE?? Alien ghosts?? What if instead of ghosts VAMPIRES are an issue? Or DEMONS? IDK I just love these characters, please do whatever you want with them and I will enjoy it.

Fandom: Night at the Museum (Movies)
Characters: Jedidiah, Octavius
Sign-up Prompt:

Jedidiah and Octavius are both SO DUMB and SO IN LOVE. Go nuts with this. Have them get married under the planetarium in a ceremony officiated by Dum Dum while Larry weeps. Have an AU with time traveling between the Wild West and Ancient Rome if you can swing it! Give me a Star Trek AU or a Star Wars AU or ANYTHING. Have them solve mysteries in the museum. GIVE THEM A YOUTUBE CHANNEL or make them Instagram famous and have Larry run ragged by their e-shenanigans!

And of course I am EXTREMELY INVESTED in their discovering their feelings. Feel free to go as tropey as hell with this, go for soulmate soulmark shenanigans or whathave you! Or keep it real with some old-fashioned pining, or Jedidiah’s dawning realization of JEALOUSY when Octavius keeps complimenting Lancelot’s eyes in the 3rd movie. Give me Jedidiah blushing madly when they hold hands and Octavius being delighted. GIVE ME THEM KISSING IN THE TINY CAR. HAVE JEDIDIAH TEACH OCTAVIUS TO DANCE AND OCTAVIUS BLUSHING LIKE MAD. Give me everyone assuming they’re dating already and being HORRIFIED AND APPALLED when Jedidiah starts flirting badly with a visiting exhibition or whatever. JEDIDIAH YOU ARE MARRIED HOW COULD YOU. Maybe if you go the youtube channel route their viewers ship them, and they're like "...ship?" and fall into the rabbit-hole of fandom??? THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.

I will take any and all of these or anything you come up with at all tbh for these, my tiny idiots, so long as they have a happy ending. :D

Fandom: 人渣反派自救系统 - 墨香铜臭 | The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System - Mòxiāng Tóngxiù
Characters: Luo Binghe, Shen Qingqiu | Shen Yuan

OH MAN. Basically, I just want more happiness for these two. As long as they are happy in the end, I’m going to love it! My main request: happiness for Luo Binghe. I adore Shen Qingqiu’s mix of internal screaming and external poise, how absolutely GONE he is for Binghe, and I just really want to see some of Binghe getting to know more of the Shen Yuan side of his husband (and being utterly charmed/tickled by it). Luo Binghe POV of anything at all involving him would be a dream.

Other prompts: the possibility for tropes in this fandom are absolutely endless – thanks for that, Airplane Bro! - so if you have a favorite one in mind, please, go nuts! Sex pollen/demon flowers? Sure! What about time travel? Definitely doable! DREAM-SHARING??? COMPLETELY CANON, and would be A DELIGHT TO EXPLORE, especially in a sexy way, or in a way that makes canon go off the rails! Or a demon artifact causes TELEPATHY to happen!! This would be great at literally any point, canon or post-canon bc lol what if LUO BINGHE DISCOVERED THE SYSTEM EXISTED oh man.

Alternately, I’m DEEPLY WEAK for competent badass Shen Qingqiu and would love to see him rescue Binghe from anything – Shen Qingqiu defending Binghe in any way is my kryptonite, and after the novel, I just want LOTS of nice things for Binghe and him realizing how very smitten and adoring and devoted and protective and possessive his Shizun is of him. Shen Qingqiu | Shen Yuan himself is so insecure and unselfaware in so many ways, I’d love to see that explored! And if you want to explore a very demonic-blooded inhuman body parts in parts of his pants!Luo Binghe, please feel very free. TENTACLES ARE A PLUS but not required.

But yes, my main prompt: HAPPINESS. I JUST WANT TO SEE THEM BEING HAPPY TOGETHER, IN SOME WAY

Fandom: Temeraire - Naomi Novik
Characters: William Laurence, Temeraire, Tenzing Tharkay

MY ETERNAL YULEFANDOM. I MISS ALL OF THEM SO MUCH. I NEED MORE OF THEM IN MY LIFE. Tharkay POV on any of the book scenes, future fic with Temeraire and Laurence and Tharkay living together, visiting China together…. I could go for virtually anything. LET YOUR HEART BE YOUR GUIDE.

If you've been yearning for a Tharkay-centric exploration of the implications of dragons in the colonial, imperial world, please give me it, I would read thousands upon thousands of words of Tharkay's thoughts and history and backstory and narrative and whatever role reversals you might want to play with - maybe he gets a dragon first, and then meets Laurence, who is a dragon transport captain or something? IDEK. I JUST WANT MORE OF HIM.

Oh, but if you’ve been wanting to write dragon/human captain fic for years, HELLO I AM YOUR RECIPIENT. Super down for the xeno and all the associated problem-solving of size differences. Alternatively, if you think Temeraire would be the most adorable possessive symbiote ala Venom, YES ME TOO. If you think Temeraire would be an amazing sentient ship or something and want to set this in SPACE OH WOW yes PLEASE COME AT ME. Or oh oh PROMARE AU. IDEK. I WANT IT.

Canonically speaking, if you can’t get enough of Tharkay’s epic crush and Laurence’s dawning realization that his feelings are mutual, HI AM HERE PLEASE LET ME LOVE YOU. I am totally happy for Temeraire to be left out of the shipping and Tharkay/Laurence to take center stage, and their post-book relationship to be explored, or for Tharkay's POV on book scenes/missing scenes! A canon AU where it's totally chill to be gay and homophobia isn't real (the wish-fulfillment dream...). A Pern AU! Honestly, go nuts, I just love this fandom and these characters forever.

Fandom: 天官赐福 - 墨香铜臭 | Tiān Guān Cì Fú - Mòxiāng Tóngxiù
Characters: Hua Cheng, Xie Lian
Sign-up Prompt:

Hua Cheng!!! I LOVE HIM. Anything of his POV, of his side of events and all the missing moments from the novel. How he felt seeing Xie Lian for the first time at the marriage sedan, or in the casino, or in the coffin… I’d be interested in seeing him interact with Xie Lian’s friends, too – Mu Qing and Fen Xing especially, but also Wind Master!! Obviously they’re all gonna have to get along somewhat, because I can’t see Xie Lian post-book not just happily visiting everyone with his HUSBAND, who is BACK, and bringing him to any and every court event possible, and trying to help with all of everyone’s many problems. (Side note: I absolutely ship MQ/FX and Shi Qing Xuan/He Xuan Water and Pei Ming/Rain Master and Yin Yu/QYZ), so if you want to include that and XL being a matchmaker somehow FEEL FREE).

I’d love to see Hua Cheng get flustered by his husband at any point, any soft little moments between the two – Xie Lian tries to make him breakfast in bed, the bed catches fire, etc etc – OR, I’d love to see them being mutual badasses together, helping solve a crime or a mystery.

Oh, and I’m VERY weak to Hua Cheng being a shapeshifter and having a female form, if that’s something you’d like to explore! Maybe Xie Lian for whatever reason does have to take on a female form himself, and some adorable lesbian shenanigans ensue? Alternately (OR NOT) I'm very into exploring some of the more demonic/ghostly sides of Hua Cheng in bed - cold/icy/bitey and possibly vampiric... horned/ridged/tentacled... however you want to explore that... USE OF BUTTERFLIES IN BED IS ALSO AN OPTION, ditto inclusion of e-Ming or Ruoye... BUT ALSO FEEL FREE TO IGNORE THIS OKAY BYE.
